Software Packages and Repository

Product description provides only information needed to install specific Version of the Product with specific configuration (described in Installation Action). Actual images of physical media are organized in Software Packages and is stored in Repository.

Software Package is nothing more than a collection of all files required to perform an install. In typical case, Software Package will consist of:

• image of CD or CDs provided by software vendor (or downloaded from vendor's web site)
• optional scripts that customize installation for particular configuration or type of user ("Setup Scripts")
• optional pre- and post- configuration scripts that required to prepare or clean up after the installation ("Before Scripts" and "After Scripts")

Repository is a special file folder that is available to ESD Server and residing either directly on ESD server's internal disc drive or attached to ESD Server over the network.
